Eugenia’s Accomplishments
Eugenia is passionate about women empowerment and issues relating to persons with disabilities.
Eugenia’s volunteer service and other community activities include:
- Began a career in the United States with Goodwill Industries, learning technical skills while also helping to improve the lives of persons with disabilities.
- Worked at a shelter for abused women.
- Served on the Board of Trustees of the Society for the Physically Challenged (a.k.a. Kaneshie Cripples Home).
- Resource person/ Mentor: Girls International, a US based NGO working globally to provide education and skills training for disadvantaged and marginalized girls for a better future.
- Works with rural women groups with a membership of 1050 plus women to help educate them on better processing methods for improving the quality of Shea butter and to help find markets for their products
- Member of the Ad Hoc Committee reviewing Shea butter standards for the Ghana Standards Board (national body that oversees quality standards of products in Ghana), February 2006.
- Member of the Ad Hoc Committee reviewing shea kernel standards for the Ghana Standards Board, March 2006.
- Member of advisory board for Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC)- Centre for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries ( CBI, Netherlands) Export Marketing and Management Programme
- Participant at the African Regional Conference for the Establishment and Harmonization of Shea butter and Shea kernels Standards, April 2006
- Participated in various training workshops organized by WATH for exporters. Exhibited at The Natural Expo West in Anaheim, California in 2004 . 2005, and 2006 under the co-sponsorship of Wath.
- Exhibited at the Inside Beauty Trade show in New York in 2005, 2006./07/08
- Exhibited at Suppliers Show, New Jersey April 2008
- Featured in September 2005 West African Trade Hub Newsletter, “The Wath Factor” for success stories in Shea butter through their initiative.
- Featured in the documentary ”Opening Doors to New Markets” an interview and images of 20 businesses exporting products to the US and Europe. The documentary is by the West African Trade Hub, and funded by USAID.
- August 2006 Trainer/Resource Person: Nigerian Shea butter and Shea Kernel Association.
